Week In Review

Please forgive me - I'm mirroring the posts from my main journal.  It's just easier and more efficient.  I hope you don't mind.

So it’s been over a week since my last official post in here. I say “official” because I updated the News section yesterday. I also tried posting over the weekend. I hadn’t noticed our Internet had disconnected while writing so when I hit save, I lost everything.

No matter. I’m here now.

It’s cold. Hands down. This is snow weather. My fingers are crossed. I’d love to see snow before we leave. I’m not saying I’d love to drive in it during rush-hour traffic. But it would be nice to see the sun shine through the naked glistening trees. I know, be careful what you wish for.

We are five weeks away from our intended departure date. It seems so soon. Yet, there’s so much that needs to happen between now and then - Like finishing the album. As you can read, we’re very close.

I’m amazed how fast time flies when I’m enjoying life. I love my day job (as day jobs go). I love that I’m finally bringing my music to life and getting it ready for the masses. The holidays are not just around the corner anymore. They’re here!

I’ve been toying with the idea of going skiing, or trying snowboarding before we leave New England. But since I’ve been busy at least 60 hours a week, I haven’t had time for the gym I joined five months ago. Plus, it’s completely out of the way - not even between work and home. When I joined, I was spending all my time in Concord. I think I’ve only seen that city once in the last two months.

Anyway, my point is, I’m way out of shape. I haven’t been on a set of skis in fifteen years. I could do some serious bodily damage by going skiing or snowboarding. But what fun it could be!

I guess that’s about it for now. Happy holiday season everyone.

Raw Footage

Just a taste of what we've been working on.
Song: Who's To Blame

Wait till about 45 seconds into this one. I was so clear about how scratchy the vocals were. Off with her head! (we fixed the vocals in the final mix). The end of this clip really shows how I was feeling about that whole take. Fun. Exhausting.

Lead Vocals

For those who like to blog-jog locally, I'll try to update here when I update elsewhere

Saturday - We spent eleven hours recording acoustic guitar and lead vocals to nine songs.  We also did a few tracks of electric guitar.  Now, drums, bass, vocals and guitar are complete.

There's still a lot to do.

Monday - Two more songs still need to be started.  Then background vocals, electric guitar, percussion and other instrumentation.

Next weekend - finish recording. Then mix and master.

Two Years Of What?

Thanks for checking in.  It's amazing to think this once beloved journal still has a few loving footsteps.

I'm not sure how to reply to comments here.  When I click on the commenter's name, I'm brought to the AOL Journals page - and if you have a journal, I'm in luck. If not, we all lose.

So, if you leave a comment, please also leave your link and/or email address so I can respond.

Where Have I Been?
I've been writing.  I never stopped.  I've just been somewhere else - but always here.  In the last two years I've worked many hours on film sets, walked a bunch of dogs, considered attending grad school for psychology, moved into a house, played many days of bad racquetball, traveled cross country, and I'm currently at the tail end of an extended stay in New England where I am in the midst of an intense music recording schedule, working on a full-length album that's ten years in the making.

My primary journal is hosted on my website where you can get caught up on the haps.

Music News
After many months of pre-production (researching recording studios, getting financing ideas, hacking my website, fine-tuning and revamping songs), I'm finally in the studio.

It's not over yet.  We're just beginning.  I'd be able to breathe easier if I had the financing to make the music that best represents who I am.  But with limited time and funds, I'm afraid some things may suffer.  I refuse to let that happen.

I'm getting closer to realizing it just may be a 10-song CD rather than the 13 songs I originally hoped for.  It's been tough enough trying to cut the list to 13.  Some favorites will be left out.  But as a good friend reminded me, there's always next time.  I just won't wait another ten years, that's all.

Get Involved
There are ways to make this album happen smoother, easier and faster.
PRE-ORDER the new CD and receive a free download of a previously unrecorded song plus the new CD hot off the press.

DONATE to help fund the new CD.  Every dollar helps.  No donation is too small.  Donations of $100 or more will receive the free download and the newCD.

I'm open to other ideas as well (i.e. investors, financing, bartering).  Spread the word!  If you like my music and you want to hear more, tell your friends. You can listen to samples and demos on my website.

Are you on MySpace?  Me too.  Send me a friend request.
Are you happier on Facebook?  Then Facebook Me.

Even though I'm back to J-Land, I no longer use aol.  If you want to get hold of me, please send email to trish [at] trishmonaco [dot] com.

Thanks all.

It's Been A While

What to say ...

For the past few months, I've been lingering in my own journal, feeling nostalgic, missing the community.  Then I'd look at the date of my last entry and let the discouragement take over.

But why?

Not sure.

So today I'm sprinkling some love on these old pages.  Perhaps it's a step toward bringing it back to life.

Is anyone still here?
