$2.69!?!  WOW!  Our premium gas isn't even that high.  That's the one good thing about living in Houston...we're close to the supply and most energy companies have a presence here, so the prices are low.

EEK!  Congrats on getting your taxes done before the 15t! :)

off topic...but your voice sounds nothing like I'd imagine it to. I've heard your singing voice, but it seems so different than your talking voice. That's not a bad thing though....

Anyway, I'm glad I don't live in California. So I guess I should be glad that I only had to pay $2.23 for my gas last night. It is ridiculous though...oh, and taxes...yeah I should get on that.

Hope you had a good one!

OMG  {{{{{Trish}}}}} thanks for letting me know that our prices here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area aren't as bad as I thought!   I'll be filling my tank up in a couple of hours. It will be intersting to see what the prices are today!

Damn, you sound so cuuuute!  Granted, I already knew how cute you sound, but awwwww!  It's even adorabler coming through my puter's speakers!  I was too busy waiting to hear you curse at traffic to actually pay attention to what you were talking about, so I'm afraid I can't comment on the content of the yammerage itself [damn!  no cursage!].    :o)~

It is funny that your audio entry was about gas prices. I too live in California and noticed on my way home that at Shell Regular gas was 2.59 or 2.69. I am so glad that I don't have to pay for my own gas.

Awww, Trish.  It's so nice to hear your voice again.  I still think of that super-duper phone conversation we had months and months ago.  <grin>

And I totally hear ya about the gas prices.  My Mustang is such a gas hog.  And prices here in Washington for regular unleaded are around $2.59.  It's absolutely ridiculous.

Nice to see that everyone agrees about the gas prices.  I live in South Carolina, and supposedly, we have the 2nd cheapest gas prices in the country.  The cheapest I've seen gas today was around $2.13 for regular.  The average is around $2.25.
Something is wrong with a country that won't allow its citizens the freedom to travel. With the upcoming months of summer, and South Carolina's huge income from tourism, I am sure the state will find some way to make up the tourism income loss by raising taxes.  So, I guess we all get screwed twice.
By the way, I thought we were in Iraq fighting not only to halt terrorism, but to secure the oil wells?? Maybe the Iraqis are smarter than us; I mean they at least ride camels!

The gas prices are CRAZY. REALLY, IT NEEDS TO BE THIS HIGH. WHY.... I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND. CLINTON MAY HAD A FEW PROBLEMS BUT ONE OF THEM WASN'T BREAKING EVERY AMERICAN FOR OIL... SOMETIMES PEOPLE NEED TO STOP AND THINK WHAT BUSH REALLY WANTS INSTEAD OF WHAT HE IS DOING WITH THE WAR. I COULD CARELESS BOUT THEM OVER THERE WHEN KIDS OVER HER ARE GOING HUNGRY AND SINGLE PARENTS ARE LOOSING JOBS B/C OF GAS PRICES THEY CAN'T AFFORD. DON'T HAVE FOOD OR GAS OVER HERE FOR MOST OF THE LOWER CLASS PEOPLE.  YEAH I SAID IT AND I MEAN IT TOO WE HAVE OUR OWN WAR GOING ON HERE WE NEED TO ADDRESS.  ONE IS GETTING BUSH OUT OF OFFICE GREED IS THE DEVIL WORK...

here comes another weekend and the prices will go up again as they have in the past but we can help stop this if we give a little bit of pleasure up for a while  drive only when you have to stop the weekend trips to the rivers and lakes stay home with your off road vehicles and just stop living the life we had we have to stop feeding the oil companies for awhile it works if they cant sell it they have to lower the price

They only charge this crazy amount because we let them.  If we stop buying gas, prices would go down.  They make so much money off of us already they wouldn't want to lose the business.  But as long as we continue to fill up our suv's and head to the beach, lake, woods they have us right where they want us.  I have no doubt that many cities who thrive off tourism will suffer this summer because these gas prices trickle down to every aspect of our lives (shipping goes up so there for producers pay more for their supplies, stores pay more for the product, and yet we pay even more at the register).  I know at this time most everyday things have not gone up in price but when gas is $4 a gallon don't you think you'll feel the pinch.  There are a lot of us who are already hurting from gas prices but yet so many don't yet feel the full effect.  I am a single mom who drives 40 miles one way to work and my salary isn't going up with gas prices, if it gets to $4 a gallon I'll have to find another job.  This isn't going to go away on it's own and if you think so you're just as stupid as the other countries think we are.  Stop letting them take us for idiots and stand up against these oil companies.  If you're not willing to stand up for yourself, do you think someone else is.  I am trying to get a nation wide boycott of gas together for May 7 and 8.  If you're a true American who isn't as stupid as other countries believe we are then stand with me and help stop the pain at the pump.  If not then I don't want to hear you complain.

What is wrong with our government. They were supose to help we the people. They don't give a damn about us. None of them has tryed to help with the price of gas and heating oil. How are we suppose live? I live in Maine and the winter is cold here. I may lose my home because I can't  pay for oil and the house. I am 78 years old and working to try to pay my bills. Damn sad isn't it. When you retire and have to go back to work to try to make ends meet. Wesley Ellis in Maine

its a sad day in the country when we cant afford the cost of gas anymore,
its sad to have to chose between food and gas or heating oil....EAT'' OR FREEZE''
FREEZE BUT EAT'' OR GET WHERE YOU NEED TO GO, AND NOT EAT AND FREEZE.
Its sad, but thats what it comes down to. as a family of 5 soon to be 6, its hard of rus just ot keep food on the table, with out having to add to it, in riseing gas prices. its costing us 1500.00 a winter to keep this house warm, and thats not incuding gas for our car, we went with out oil for the heater, for about 3 months, in 20 degree weather, because we simply couldnt pay the bill. and who suffers for this, the american tax payer, and the children, of america. i think MR BUSH. should worry more about whats going on here at home , instead of who to bomb next over seas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It sad when people over seas are getting more money and support and our own country.............thanks kissybones04@aol.com

Big Oil companies have been robbing the average consumer for years.  If you really want to know a way to hurt the big oil companies stop
buying everything in the store thats marked up 150 %.  As long
as BP can sell a cup of coffee for 1.60 and folks keep buying it, they are going to continue to do so.  So, you get to overpay 1.00 a cup on their 60 cent cup of coffee, so why not pay over at the pump.

You can buy a sandwich at BP's deli for 2.49.  They should be giving something away everytime you fuel up your car there.  Shot, you have to pump it and do your own windows and go inside and you still have to pay 4.09 for your sandwich and Coffee.  ( YOu can make the same thing at home for less than a buck.

I guess the point I am trying to make is, as long as we, the consumer allow big oil companies to charge outrageous prices on gas, and inside products, they will continue to do so.

I now make sure on my day for gas to have my debit card with me, so I can swipe, fuel and roll.  Big oil companies will never get 1.60 for a cup of coffee or 2.49 for a sandwich

dpower4272 said...

As most all consumers probably dont know ,as long as we continue to pay at the pump,s with a credit card the station retailer,s have that much more reason to bump the price every time there is an increase ,they have to pay Fee,s on every credit card run ,the oil companies make monet everytime, the credit card companies also do ,then there is us guy,s the retailers we get paid our money back three to five days later . not like the old day,s when you could take all your bank cards to the Bank and get instant credit ,those days are gone if everyone  went to cash only the oil companies would be forced to drop the price everybody is making money think of how the credit card companies would like that every day.

Gas prices may seem high, but have you checked out the price of bottled water at the convenience store!  Wow, At least oil companies take crude oil, process it, make gasoline, diesel fuel, and heating oil.   Meanwhile spending 100's of millions of dollars at each refinery to remove sulfur from gasoline, remove sulfur dioxide from the air.  And we think gasoline is Hgh, what about that water that comes clean from the spring!

Congrats on being one of the AOL pics!  I know what you mean about the gas prices..it's awful.  I live in Seattle, Washington and the gas here is around the $2.60 range or higher too..depends what time of day even!   I found myself thinking about motorcyles...good grief....but they get good mileage.  Ha!  You've got this thing down, making a phone entry while in your car! wow!   Just remember that cellphones can have static so don't use it near the pump.....!  I once saw a video of someone that was filling her gas tank and the static in her hair ignited the gas fumes near the pump and her hair caught on fire....I couldn't believe it.....ok...whoa....sorry...on a happier note she was OK....any ways...good luck with your journal....  you have a great audio voice too!   If you have time stop by....

(sigh) ... and yet we have the cheapest gas and cheapest postage in the world.
Americans are such whiners, spoiled and unaware of how spoiled we are.
Anyone who voted for W. has no call to complain, but as for me... We need minimum wage to be $13.50/hr to keep up.

Houses here are at least $150,000.  I made about $18,000 last year with two jobs.  I must have the cheapest rent in the whole county ($400), except for working people who share quarters.  And $400 is almost half my monthly net.

I have no idea where I can live if I lose this place. (It's a trailer, but a roomy one.)  I guess I need to find a housemate eventually.  Living in a house again could be quite nice.  But in defense of my humble rental abode, it made it through two direct hits of hurricanes!

I'll begin with kudos for the recognition. I'm a bit of a neophite at Blogging but seeing yours is inspiration to keep at it.
I was born and raised in CA first the San Joaquin Valley, then moving south to eventually San Diego. Then I migrated back to the Bay Area. I now live in Nevada.
I was struck by a few things in your entry, first the phone while driving. Hopefully you use a headset. You sound like Coastal CA, Central to Northern but its hard to say.
Perhaps I should stick to the topic. I previously made my home in San Francisco, for me I had dreamed of living there my whole life. When I moved to the "City" I went into shock. The gasoline prices are the highest consistently in the USA. Hence the groceries, services and on down the line are more expensive. There are oil Refineries across the Bay in Richmond but we were told that the difficulty in driving Tankers into SF caused the high prices. Not the drilling, pumping, shipping, refining, packaging, advertising, lobbying or anything else. Now I have been in the service industries most of my life and everyone knows the closer you are to the supply the cheaper operations are. I don't believe for a moment that nonsense from the Texas Oil Man. Perhaps he swallows the line his industry feeds us but, to use an analogy, if the food is grown next to the families that buy it the farmer doesn't charge extra because the market has steps up to the door.
I moved out of CA due to the near total over legislating of everything. It seems that folks dream of living there but when they arrive they want to change the way it is to suit every narrow preference. Shame really. It was wonderful place until all the PC Nazi's started taking over. Cheers!

I am sure glad I do not own a car right now.  I am spoiled. When I began to drive, gas was $.45 a gallon.  The decimal is in the right place.  1971.

Someone onced asked me if I worked.  I have a Florida tan.  But not from the beach, it is from walking, taking mass transit and on a bicycle.  Yes, I do work.  You stand out in that sun for 20 mins waiting for a bus and you too can look like you spent the day on the sand.  I told them to loose the car and take a bus for one day.

I drove for 35 years.  I do not miss the car or the expense or the other people on the road who can't drive to save themselves.

Gas is what it is, stop whining or take a bus
