Zzzinnggg!

So I saved a few bucks this weekend by pressing my own coffee.  It's a little more work than it's worth.  And it has quite a different taste -- not worse. Very good actually.  Just different.

My roommate was kind enough to get us a coffee press (woohoo, thanks Reza).  He refused to get a coffee maker because he said he didn't want something ugly - something that looked like we'd see in an office.  He's funny that way.

While I'm grateful to have the ability to make coffee at home now (yippeeee), I still want a coffee pot.  I want to be able to push a button and walk away.  When I return to the kitchen, I want coffee ready to pour!  Picky?  Maybe.  But I'm all for simplicity.  The reason I go to Starbuck's and Coffee Bean is for the simple convenience.

It takes longer to press coffee than it does to steep tea.  It's not difficult to make coffee this way.  It just takes more time and effort than I'd like to expend in the morning.  I gotta admit though, the coffee press is easy on the eyes.  I certainly don't feel like I'm in an office.  And it's good to know I can make coffee at home now.  Maybe I will appreciate it more if I get vanilla syrup and non-dairy creamer.  Coffee's just not the same with honey and vanilla rice milk.  That's just wrong.

You have a coffee maker. Tell him he's cute and let him press it and make the coffee. : )

they have the cutest non-office looking coffee makers at Kohl's and Filene's, department stores like that ~ even in some catalogs i've seen! (Brylane Home) .... there are pretty colors like red, eggplant, cobalt, etc. that are very easy on the eyes!!!  why not try one of those??

i'm still sticking with my carnation instant breakfast drink, chocolate, of course!!!  or sometimes, a diet pepsi!!!   :)

I really enjoy the flavor of pressed coffee, too, but I didn't have to make it!  My sister invited me down to my Mom's and SHE made it!  I, too, need to push a button and walk away.  I have seen those commercials for that new coffee- machine-thingy...it is pressed, and the coffee comes in little pre packaged pods, for one cup at a time.  I am going to check into it.  I am sure it will be more than I can afford, but something to dream about since I already dream about that espresso I can't afford, but love!  Good luck in your search of your coffee maker...!  JAE

Woo hoo!!  you'll be saving lots of money, too!

My suggestion is buy the french vanilla International Delights coffee creamer.  It is non-dairy and lactose free and yummy to the max.    I've never tried the coffee press, but I just like my regular coffee pot.  I don't care what it looks like as long as it makes good coffee.  My current pot of choice is the Hamilton Beach BrewStation, which is nice because there's no pot, and you can get your first cup while it is still brewing.  I bought it at WalMart for about $40 and it's my favorite coffee maker ever.  I used to be a Bunn girl, but not anymore.

They have another one for about $8 more with a timer.

SHARKY - I laughed when I read your comment.  The thing about the Bonjour coffee press is that it's (supposedly) unbreakable.  There's actually a picture of a hammer next to it on one of the side panels.  LOL  Apparently it has some kind of lifetime guarantee.  You should be able to get it replaced for free.

COY - LOL.  It's a sad realization when even a non-coffee drinker knows what I'm talking about. ;)

ANGELA - LOL!  I'll give it a shot.  But I have this thing about being self-sufficient.  It's a curse sometimes.

PHINNEY - Kohl's again.  I swear, I never heard of the place till the summer.  Now it's showing up everywhere in my path.  I'll check it out.  Thanks.  Oh, and I have really bad memories of Carnation instant breakfast drinks.  Didn't go too well with my tonsilectomy.

JAE - Oooh, espresso...mmm...nice dream.  Having someone else press coffee for you is indeed a treat!

DIANNE - Of course you have all the info - with a link included.  I checked it out.  I love the 'no external coffee pot' idea.  Looks perfect.  And it's no eyesore either.  Thank you much!!

SARAH - I've never had cinnabon coffee.  Something to try.  Thanks.

Well huh. Coffee pressing? I never heard of such a thing.

(Coffee with honey and vanilla rice milk? Huh! Never heard of such a thing. Gross!)

I have six-year-old coffee maker. God-awful ugly, too. In fact, it's time to buy a new one. They've got designer colors now. (Office coffee makers are gray and big, very industrial looking. Mine's just dirty.)

Call me Breakfast-Blend Girl. I likes me coffee. No. I LOVES me coffee.

Awwww....couldn't you keep your coffee pot/maker in your room?  That way Reza wouldn't see it... : )  I've never heard of coffee pressing, do you use already ground coffee beans?

Love my coffee pot, it's a cuisinart.  It grinds and brews, yummmmmm.... Mike broke our carafe last week, and we called cuisinart and ordered a new one.  Wasn't ready to replace our machine yet.  Oh yeah, and it's in one of those designer colors that Andrea mentioned.  : )

I've seen these things all over Europe and never really got it myself, although they are nice and sleek-looking.  I just want my coffee like I want my men ~ strong, hot & rich ~ and preferably at the push of a button, come to think of it... ;D
