In Phoenix

While driving to Tucson with Robbie last month, she claims it was a pleasant friendly ride until about the time we hit Phoenix.  When Robbie proudly told Peachy that Freee does indeed get bitchy, Peachy announced, "Freee caught bitch at Phoenix."

Whooooboy - I am soooooo in Phoenix right now!

I'm going out of my overactive mind today.  This lovely computer of mine is so close to the graveyard.  We're hanging on a thread here.  If anyone has any idea how I can get my sound to work, that would be a great help.  Apparently I don't have the DDRAW.DLL file.  And I have no multimedia components.  Hello?!  How does that happen?  I had them before I tried to reinstall my webcam.  How do I know I had them?  Because I HAD SOUND.

It's times like these that I wish I was a techie...or married to one...or rich enough to just buy my new computer already.  LOL

You should see my workstation.  This poor computer has been through the gamut.  First the floppy drive went [years ago].  Then the monitor blew [years ago].  Then the mouse input broke [thank god for USB].  Then my CPU fan wore out and made my computer appear as if it crashed.  So I lost every bit of information last summer.  Then one of my Memory sticks wasn't functioning properly so I was running on half RAM speed [or whatever you call that].  Then we all know what happened recently.  And since then, I haven't been able to get things back to appropriate working condition.  AOL still needs to be reinstalled.  I still can't upload pictures with ZoomBrowser.  And now I can't even upload video, or listen to the radio, or hear every nuance I'm used to hearing on my computer.

So yeah, I'd say I hit Phoenix ... ohhh ... last night.  And I'm still visiting.

PS - no offense to the beautiful city of Phoenix.  It's just the innocent victim of bad timing and traffic.

So that old Soundgarden lyric should be "I'm looking California but feeling Phoenix" huh? :)

I feel your pain, woman.  My laptop offed itself a week ago.  I think it new I was looking at replacing him...  First, he started getting testy.  Then he started sending mixed signals.  He'd tell me he was charged and ready to go when his battery was kaput.  These computers are so sensitive! Geesh!

I have no sound either! My computer bought back in good ole 2000 is almost five years old and considered a dinosaur compared to the new fangled flat screens with sound. YUCK! I, too can sympathize.......:) Im going through my Phoenix, too!
Hugs, and soy chocolate (if there is such a thing)

Dells are really great comps and extremely cheap. Very nice you are meeting so many from journal land I think that's great!

{{{{{ Freee }}}}} I hope someone with the answer to that missing file comes to your aid soon. We don't want you to take up long term residence in Phoenix.  Man you've had more than your share of computer problems!!!

TARA - Funny how your laptop is clearly a man to you.  Makes sense.  Bummer about him though. :(  What are you working/playing on now?

PHIN - When I'm 'in Phoenix', everything is personal.  So yeah, I do believe my computer is doing this to me on purpose.  LOL

BARBIE - ROFL!  Good one.  A Peace Fund sounds [get it, 'sounds'] great.  But I'm sure there are plenty of other things we can spend our funds on. :)

SARAH - My computer is as old as yours.  And I'm sure there's soy chocolate but for me, there is no substitute for REAL chocolate. ;)

ANDREA - ow.  quit it. :P

REDHDKA - Thanks.  I'm gonna check Dell and Toshiba.  I'm looking for laptop this time around. :)

VIVIAN - I just LOVE your hugs!  It doesn't matter what kind of mood I'm always bring a smile to my face.  I'm just visiting worries. :)

Oh Honey, I caught bitch in TUCSON this morning.  I feel your pain.  I'd throw out a good, odd number for ya to ponder but alas, apparently I don't know any.  I wish my techie could help you.  :(  (But, then again, my computer is a 98 and it's not doing freaking's like being married to the housepainter and the house you live in looks like a dive.)  ~Peachy

I assume you're computer is not running windows xp.  If by chance you are, you can go back in time with system restore and EASILY return everything to the state is was in before you tried to reinstall your webcam.  Email me if you're running xp and want more information.

Good luck!

jadzia7667 said...     Go there, that's Microsoft's site.....they should be able to reinstall whatever is missing, and update you while they're at it.

I had to finally laugh at the fool at my door this morning, but...I'm still gonna prosecute his butt - lol.

Oh sweetie, I wish I had good news for you.
I had the same thing happen to my sound
a few weeks ago.   I had thought one of the
kittens had gotten behind the computer and
one of the plugs had come out, but thats
not what happpened.  I had to call the folks
at Dell about it, and they walked me through
reinstalling some kind of a sound driver.  Since
your computer is old, I dont know how to help
you!  I wish I did!  It took Dell 45 minutes
to help me with mine, and it's still under
Good luck!

ARGHHH!!  Computer problems are the WORST!!  I'm currently running on an overloaded system and I'm due to really clean it out and move files to disc.  But it's just such a chore, I hate to even attempt it!  Blah.

I hear you're looking at a new comp, though.  Woohoo!!!  I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya, hon.  :D

So sorry, Freee. :-(   I get practically hysterical any time a minor thing goes wrong with my computer.  I worry so much about losing touch with the world only accessible through that medium, you know?

But honestly, my computer is a very basic and inexpensive model.  It cost about $600, and  now I've seen computers for about $100 less.  I actually put it on layaway--the plan for us not-so-rich folks.  So maybe you can do something like that if you don't marry a tech person soon. ;-)  Good luck!

Hoping you get outta Phoenix soon... lovin' the phrase.  Computer problems are enough to send anyone there.

There's a special place in Hell reserved for computer manufacturers who keep churning out $1,200 disposable computers.  It seems like every other year I buy a new one.  Ugh!

Hey Dorothy. Did anyone mention, you're not in Kansas (Phoenix) anymore? You can't be a bitch in L.A. You've got to be freee and at peace. It's all good. ::::hoping you got it worked out by now:::: :-) ---Robbie

The traffic in Phoenix is anything BUT innocent!!  :)  I went through the same sort of computer problems last year that you are experiencing now.  My monitor went bad and I couldn't see colors right.  It was weird.  So I know what you're going through.  You may have to break down and buy a new computer.  I know it's an expense, but whatcha gonna do??  :)

A new PC doesn't have to be THAT expensive. Shop around. - they had a really great system not too long ago that was only $450. :-)
