Cake in L.A.

Newsflash:  SloMo's Coca-Cola Cake has arrived safely in Los Angeles.

Y'all don't know chocolate cake until you've tried Southern Coca-Cola cake.  Nothing can go wrong when you have a mouthful of this cake.  Just thinking about it now makes me want to run to the kitchen for 'just one more little bite' [yeah right].  SloMo did say she was going to fatten me up.  Ah well, it's worth it.

I ate whatever I wanted - I was on vacation.  I drank soda - I was on vacation.  I ate sugar - I was on vacation.  I had vanilla lattes every day - I was on vacation.  Ooooh, potato soup...two bowls the first time.  And one big bowl the second time.  Oh yeah, it's good enough to make every night of the week - I was on vacation.

I didn't sleep much.  [who has time for sleep on vacation?]  But for the first time in a very long time, I slept through the night...all night, every night.  Of course, it helps that I was completely wiped out by the end of each day.

I have not stopped.  My body's still on Central Time.  I flew into LAX this morning and went straight to work.  I had three hours of sleep last night.  We just kept gabbing and chatting ... it seemed we both didn't want today to come.

Now that I'm home and my work is done, let's see if this sleep pattern can continue in my own bed.  Otherwise, I just might have to revisit Hotel SloMo sooner than later.  Fine by me.

So ... who wants cake?  Speak up...and soon.  There's no telling how long this will last in my possession.  Headed to the kitchen...

You don't know HOW much trouble you're in if you didn't save a piece of that cake for ME, missy!

I wonder if I take a bite of DQ's brownie batter thing and then a swallow of Coke ... if it would taste any good. You think?

The insane thing is that I'm actually JEALOUS of you because you have my cake and I don't.  LOL  Oh well, guess it's time to make Armandt's contest cake! I'm only sending half - that means the other half is mine.  Rawrrrr!  :D

My question is...are you going to start baking this cake yourself, now that you've seen the master at work? Surely she explained the how-to's and all :) It's  been my experience, that I can read recipes and they will turn out fine, but after watching the cook actually put it all together, I can do a lot better with it.

It's been several days, that cake must be gone by now! Good cake never lasts very long. :P

JESSE - Come to LA and you shall have cake. :)  There's still some left.

JENNIFER - Let us know how the potato soup turns out.  Ooooh, just thinking about it makes me want some.  Guess I'll have to check out the recipe too.  Ugh.  I just like eating the stuff...not making it. :P

ROBBIE - It went by WAY too fast.  And there's still some cake left if you want some more.

IRUN - Are you out of your mind?  I'm not *mailing* cake.  If you want some, come to L.A. or go to TX.  I had to book my own flight and commit to staying for five days in order to have my cake and eat it too. :P  Sooooo worth it.

GGAL - You're right.  Southern Coca-Cola cake should be used for medicinal purposes - since it cures so much!  Maybe it's covered on my insurance.  Brilliant.

RYANAGI - I could write about our visit forever.  There were many keepsake moments.  Most were hysterically funny...but probably only to us.  LOL

REDHDKA - No one is too fat for this cake.  I urge you to try it.  It'll put a smile on your face.  Oh hey, like the commercial jingle:  'have a coke and a'll make you feel goo-oo-ood'

STACY - Thank you.  And yes, kids are so cute...especially THESE kids. :)

freeepeace said...

PHINNEY - Well then, get your butt to L.A. sister.  Cake is here...but not for too much longer. :P

MUMSY - SloMo's coca-cola cake is famous around AOL-J.  I never really understood why...till I experienced it myself. Ooooohhh....

MARY - ::thinking, thinking:: What email?  I hope it's a good one.  I've been so wrapped up in cake and soup that I've forgotten all about previous unfinished business.  LOL

SHARKY - Well, my sleeping isn't as sound here as it was at CampSloMo.  But then again, I'm not staying up till 3am gabbing either.  That can wear a girl out!  Worth it though.  I didn't want our time together to end.  But I know, there will be more visits. :)

freeepeace said...

PENNY - You've got the right idea.  Potato soup then cake.  Then more soup.  Then more cake.  Ohhhh...heaven.

PUNKY - If/when you do make the cake, let's hear your review! :)

COY - LOL...I hear ya on that one.  Both the soup and the cake are at the top of their own leagues.

MARY [alphawoman] - We did...we had a great time.  Glad you could be here to enjoy it with us.

SISTERCDR - Well said.  Good friends and good food.  Especially good food that's made by good friends.  Yum!

freeepeace said...

GATOR - Ah yes, good for the inner peace.  I needed it.  Just wish it were longer.  Next time.

JENMHULETT - Now I'm hungry too.  If you want cake, you'll have to come get it...but hurry...I'm headed to the kitchen. :P

SLOMO - We actually packed way too much cake for me.  I'm not complaining...just saying we should've left you some!  I could come back and bring the rest to you if you'd like. Better yet, you come here!!  :)

JUDITH - Thanks sweetie.

MIA - Umm...I'd have to buy a cake pan, measuring cups, measuring spoons and all the ingredients needed to make this cake.  After that, I'd have to figure out how the oven works. :P  I'd much rather go to SloMo's every few months to get my fix!  :)

freeepeace said...

CONNIE - Friends who are like chosen family are the greatest.  And really, you MUST taste the cake for real.  Geez, I'm starting to sound like SloMo with "oh this cake is the best." and "oh I love this cake better than life itself."  LOL  But truly, you just don't know till you've experienced it.

ANDREA - Umm...nope!  DQ and coke wouldn't even come close.  There's still some cake left.  When should I expect you? :P

SARAH - We should all make potato soup and coca-cola cake one day and eat it "together".  Hunny was so cute when Cheryl came to the airport to pick me up.  She was hanging out the passenger's side door with that big smile, shaking her stubby tail when she finally saw me standing at the curb.  Awwww!  Love that girl.
