Following Suit

Photo Friday Challenge : Morning

Because I'm feeling so inspired by fellow* bloggers lately, I thought I'd post my very first Photo Friday Challenge. I figure, if Mary can do it on Saturday and SloMo can do it on Tuesday, then I can do it whenever-the-heck-I-please.  After seeing their posts, I have this sudden desire for a brisk walk through Central Park with a hot cup of vanilla coffee.

I don't know the rules for the PhotoFriday challenge - and if I did, I'd probably break them anyway.  This photo is not recent.  It's not a digicam image.  It's 35-mm, scanned and cropped.  But it IS authentic.

Behold Queen-Hunny : just a few weeks after I adopted her from the West L.A. Animal Shelter - Fall 1995.  And uh... that was MY bed.  Clearly, this was before the necessary crate-training.  She spent a lot of her youth behind bars.  Eventually those pillows were shredded by the little Queen herself.  She's a Hunny alright, but don't let the name fool ya! [so many stories for another time]

*There's that word again - referring to women. Still unsure of a suitable alternative.

For the first time in months, I think, I'm the first to leave a comment!! Zooot!!!! :D

Hunny is adorable and I love the morning theme on this one. tehehe.. she still has one eye shut - or one eye open, depending on how you *look* at it... puns fully intended there.

OK.. I have to hurry and hit send before someone beats me to the punch. Luv you! :P

Absolutely love the picture of Hunny! Put a much needed smile on my face. Depending on the context here are a few words: associate, comrade, friend, affiliate, companion, buddy, acquaintence, etc. <--- sheesh What do we look like a thesaurus? ;-) Robbie

Whew feels like we beat the crowd too :) Great shot her Freee, though it looks like Hunny needs a good strong cup of fancy coffee too. Perhaps you were waking her up a little too early? Our love, Corey and all

Totally off the topic, but I have that exact same afghan. The one on top with the stripes. Mine is identical! lol

She seems to be a much pampered doggy. :-)

Awwww...this pic warms the cockles of my heart : ) To think that just weeks earlier she was unwanted in an animal shelter....and then to see her in this pic; groggy from sleep, cuddled up in your bed and LOVED....

She spent a lot of her youth behind bars._____This sentence caught me, here you are talking about a dog, Hunny. Imagine, if we would talk about animals, trees anything in the world in this way, not only people....

Oh Freee, Queen-Hunny is beautiful. I am so glad that she was fortunate enough to find a home with so much love in it for her. Tell Queen-Hunny, that Queen-Z says Hi!!! :-) ~RC~

SHELLS - Hunny does look all cuddly huh? You'd think she likes to cuddle. But nope! As soon as you curl up with her, she leaves. She's like her mama...loves her space. :)

MARY - Aww, I'm gonna tell her you said so! :P

ANDREA - It still cracks me up to think how 'human' she seems here. What would we win?

VINCE - Aww...I'll tell her! :)

RC - Ah yes, from one Queen to another. I'll tell her Royalness as we head out to the dogpark [where I will follow her like her servant, picking up after her]

SLOMO - What? Is that you? Is it really you, with the first comment?! I'm speechless. Zoot!!! hehe

SHARKY - Do it Do it! Post a PhotoFriday picture! I love your pictures :)

ROBBIE - With friends like you, I don't need a thesaurus! Thanks! :)

COREY AND ALL - Back then, it was usually as though Hunny was on a constant cup of strong coffee. This was a rare still-photo op!

DONNA - That's Hunny's blanket now. :) She is pampered...but that's after many years of discipline and training [for both of us] :)

CARLY - Aww...she is a cutie. I agree :)

IRUN - Thanks [I love my baby]

MICHELLE - Aww, great way of seeing it. :) I just can't imagine her "unwanted" - she's the most precious living thing ever!

CINDY - I'm always amazed by how 'human' Hunny seems.

JEANYU - Hunny was crate-trained because once she got comfortable in her new home with me, she started destroying everything. She needed that feeling of safety. It was harder on me than it was on her. I'd leave the crate open when I was home, but she'd go in there to rest.

To do a little "Friends" quote a la Chandler, "Could that picture be any cuter?!?!" I just want to get in there & snuggle with Hunny! Did she actually ever let you get in the bed with her? Or did she stake it as her own? When we adopted our dog, Evie, from the Elmsford Animal Shelter, we tried to get her to snuggle on the couch or bed with us, but she wouldn't. Funny...... ~Aunt Nub~

Damn, I wish **I** looked that cute when I first wake up.

we certainly see who rules the roost in your home. The pooch is in the comfy bed and the poochiemom is fiddling with the camera and not enjoying the sheets.

Ohhh, a Hunny pic! I'll never get tired of them. =P

Let's just say she's a honey with that healthy pinch of spice! Btw, vanilla coffee, sounds good, maybe I'll order that for a change instead of my usual caramel mac.

OMG!! And she has the audacity to wink at you too! You two are kindred spirits! I love this photo!
Take care! Love ya..

What would you win? Gourmet doggy biscuits, of course! Woof.

Hunny really is a gorgeous dog. And she certainly seemed to make herself right at home with you, Trish. (By the way...it DOES feel good to call you Trish again! LOL)

I think it is totally okay to use the term "fellow" as a uni-sex word, meant in terms of "fellowship", not gender...if you need to clarify, you could always use "fella" for a male counterpart...hmmm..."fella dogwalker"....maybe not.... but I am not offended in the least when referred to as a "fellow" blogger, even though I am a woman...Hunny is a very lucky girl!

freeepeace said...

AUNT NUB - Hunny's not much of a snuggler. That pic is rare. She doesn't like being under blankets much either. And you better believe she "let me" get in bed with her. It's MY bed. I'M top dog! [gotta know the pack order] :)

HEMPEN - Aww - as cute as Hunny is...I actually think this pic is a little pathetic. Adorable. But pathetic. heheh

DIANNE - I learned real fast who had to be top dog. Like I said, this is a pic from our first few weeks together. She spent most of her youth behind bars. You wouldn't believe the amount of destruction she caused before the crate training! Yikes!

MUSE - I love that you atually met Hunny - and you *still* think she's an angel. lol I had my vanilla coffee today - did you?

MIA - Aww, it's true, Hunny and I ARE kindred spirits. :)

COFFEE - Thanks. And coffee-IS-heavenly!!

ANDREA - Oooh, gourmet doggy biscuits. Hunny would love 'em!

BRIDGETT - I can't hear enough compliments about Hunny. I am like a psycho parent who thinks her kid is the most beautiful, precious, smart, funny, etc. Can't help it!

YAKIMA - lol "fella dogwalker" - and you're right "fellow" as a uni-sex adjective works. Thank you, my fellow blogger. :)

Just so you know, Mom was checking out the most recent picture of hunny from September, and I started going back and showing her some of the cute shots you have posted of her.  I finally got to this one and she said "you're not allowed to show me any mroe of these, 'cause I want to go and kidnap her."
