A few points of interest

Thank you for the wonderful comments about my new About Me photo.  The graphic is the brilliant work of SloMo.  All I did was snap a pic with my handy-dandy webcam.  And SloMo was off and running!  I'll be changing the graphic from time to time, just to keep it fresh - like me!  Ha!

I've also been getting some incredibly warm feedback about my music.  Some of you wanted to know where to get a copy of my Teaser CD.  That's easy!  CLICK HERE to hop over to my fabulous website and place your order!  It's only $7 and all proceeds go toward the production of new CDs, recording, artwork, etc.  While you're there, take a look around.  Listen to music.  Look at pictures.  Place a pin on your home state in my Guestmap.  View and sign my Guestbook.  If you don't already know, the site is another masterpiece [or, is that mistresspiece] of the creative genius, SloMo. [note the brown template]

Also, I'm looking for some new music to add to my personal collection.  I tend to like acoustically-based singer/songwriters - local, indy-types.  But I'm also an occasional pop/rock listener.  I'm open to expanding my horizons.  So please pass on suggestions.  What's your all-time favorite CD?  Who's that diamond in the rough I just have to hear?  I've burned a hole through Alana Davis and Jason Mraz.  I'm recycling my former loves as the Indigo Girls and india.arie are back in rotation.  But you know how that is - music brings me right back to that moment in time when I first burned a hold in those CDs.  Save me before I pull out the vinyl and start feathering my hair like Jesse's Girl.

How 'bout Shawn Colvin, or John Prine?

Oooh, I love Shawn Colvin! Thanks for the reminder. Haven't heard of John Prine. I'll do a search. Thanks Donah!

Im the worst to ask about music. When I worked at Best Buy in the music department I could tell you so much about what was out and what was good.. Now that im gone Ive just lost touch with music. I really only listen to 80s mix cds. Today it was non stop Go Go Girls and Billy Idol on the way home from work and in between Stern commercials this morning. No Springfield though. I never liked that guy.

Ha! Jesse's Girl is cool! I listen to pretty much everything. Today I had OAR (Of A Revolution) and Steve Miller Band in my stereo. Do you like Sarah McLachlan? She is amazing, huh? Jason Mraz is pretty damn cool. Something Corporate rocks my speakers quite often, but they're not really an indy-type. Oh I dunno, I have no answers right now...sorry. ~ Kate xo

Argh, I can't contribute to the music suggestions, I'm not up to date on the latest good listens out there. For acoustically based, I've always liked Tracy Chapman. I don't know if John Mayer counts, but I like his music, way before he was John Mayer.

I think it's a cool idea to change your pics occasionally and keep things fresh. Can't wait to see the pics you come up with (this one is great!). And hey, you owe me a special signature on your CD I got at Genghis. =D

Love the new photo in the "about me" section. It's so... YOU. You just look totally free there. Very appropriate, I'd say! Oh, and if I could give a good old-fashioned Tex Avery whistle, I'd do it!

WOAH! I was using BlogLines and I saw you mention your About Me graphic so I had to do this the old way to check it out. AWESOME! I LOVE IT!!!! I wish I could be of some assistance with your music selection, but you know I'm clueless. I'm only a little familiar with Indigo Girls (actually own a CD of theirs shhh) and india.arie and I only know os Alana Davis and J.Mraz from journal entries. :-) Why don't you throw down some Missy Elliott? LOL!

Chris, How 'bout you make me an 80s mix cd! I love some of those one-hit wonders. Oooh and soundtracks. :)

Mara, Chapman, Mayer - love em both! Great reminders [thx] And I haven't forgotten about your autographed CD. Let's meet for tea! :)

Kate, I have some Sarah. Not a huge fan but I respect her tremendously. OAR, SMB, SC...I'll check the web for samples! Thanks! xo

LOL!! Bring on the 80's hairstyles! Woohoo! I love a lot of the 80's music - but I have to be in a certain playful mood for it. Anything by Stevie Nicks or Bonnie Tyler. Go download "Betty Davis Eyes!" and wear it out. Dido and Fiona Apple are good ones too, if you're looking for something more modern.

I need to do a music entry. BAD! LoL xoxo

Haven't pulled out my Indigo Girls for awhile, always loved their song "Closer We Are Fine". Ok, different. Well, I like Merril Bainbridge especially love her song "Power Of One". Staying off the beaten path, there's Dar Williams, "The Honesty Room". Especially liked her song "When I Was A Boy". Not sure if she's done anything recently, but she's very accoustic/earthy. One of my all-time fav CD's is Tapestry Revisited. A tribute to Carole King, love that CD from start to finish.

Some diamonds in the rough for your consideration: David Gray, David Baerwald, Gillian Welch, Ramsey Midwood, Damien Rice, Hem, Sarah McLachlan, Natalie Merchant and 10,000 Maniacs, Bruce Cockburn, Clannad, Nickel Creek...

I love Jason Mraz! He came to Ball State on Halloween and I went and saw him play. He's very good live, too!! I'm not sure about music suggestions. I listen to basically anything. I like Vanessa Carlton's CD Be Not Nobody. Um, Mandy Moore's new Coverage CD is really good! A few others that are on a constant rotation in my CD player are Kelly Clarkson's Thankful, Counting Crow's Films About Ghosts (it's a "best of" CD), and John Mayer's Room for Squares and Heavier Things.

I had already been to your fabulous website that SloMo did, but I just want to say how awesome of a job she did. I haven't listened to any of my India Arie CD's for a bit, thanks for reminding me, She totally rocks.

Funny that you mention the Indigo Girls. I come from a very small town. When I started listening to the Indigo Girls, everybody thought I was crazy. I mean...this was a Hank Williams Jr. kind of town. Blah!! But I truly love their music...I was especially drawn to 'Closer To Fine.' There is a quality to your music that reminds me a great deal of IG. As for great CD's...I love Simon and Garfunkel's greatest hits. It's a 4 CD set, and is really quite good. =)

Cindy, Hi! Welcome! I love Seal and Merchant. Haven't heard of Amanda Ghost [adding her to my list] thank you! Darius Rucker has a sexy voice!

SloMo, Noooo 80s hairstyles please! It's enough that bangs are making a comeback. I don't think I could deal with AquaNet and neon again! [love Bonnie Tyler - sang her in 8th grade]

Kat, you burned me a CD? Wow. Thanks. Use the address I left for Chris. I'll burn you guys something in return! :)

Michelle, I love Dar Williams [from MA, right?] Oooh, I've GOT to get the King tribute!

hmmm...new music...I don't know. I like Emm Gryner, ColdPlay, the new Sarah Mclaughlin CD, Tori Amos "secrets of a librarian", Emiliana torrini <--new to me and super!! uh...well...I guess that's it for now. :)

Deabvt, I'll check out Wainwright! Thanks for the suggestion.

Fdtate, great list! Damien Rice is at the TOP of my list! I heard him first one week ago and every single day since then. It's a sign! Thank you!

Mallory, I see you like all the popsters. Mraz live? ::melt:: John Mayer's 2nd - good suggestion. I love his 1st.

freeepeace said...

Robby, woohoo - cheers for SloMo's web design! india.arie is timeless.

Bridgett, I take that as a compliment. The Indigo Girls were my inspiration to pick up my guitar again, after years of not playing. I started writing and playing gigs because of them. I should look into that S&G CD set! Great suggestion. thanks.

Carly, wow - your words shot straight through my heart! Thank you love. Truly. xo

freeepeace said...

Sharky, how'd you sneak in here :) I'll check out Emm Gryner [new to me]. I'm probably the only person on the planet who's not a Coldplay fan. I respect them but I'm not drawn to their music - same with Sarah. I love Tori Amos! Torrini - is that a SloMo recommendation? :)

s0ngbird1962 said...

Yup, Dar is from MA.... thinking she was born in NY, but has spent most of her life here. She reminds me of Joni Mitchell/Joan Baez. And I'm telling ya Tapestry revisited/Tribute to Carole King is a must have : ) LOL, thanks to you I pulled it out yesterday, it's been too long since I listened.

Ok, Travis the band (no one in the band named Travis), they are from Scotland, just saw them Sunday night, a cross between The Monkees and Neil Diamond (they'll probably hate that but oh well) the album, The Man Who, great! Also, the Push Stars, from Boston. James (another band, with no one named James!), Dido is always good. Dar is great and from Boston, she used to play with my ex-boyfriend when they were both doing the open mic thing in Boston.
